JANE member seminar on tele-existence held on December 15th

On December 15th, JANE hosted a members’ seminar themed on tele-existence.
Tele-existence refers to a technology that enables a human operator to perform remote tasks through a surrogate robot. The movements of an operator wearing special devices are reproduced in real time by a humanoid robot, and the human operator can feel the senses of touch, sight and sound via their surrogate.

JANE invited Mr. Yukihiro Ueda of the Japan Science and Technology Agency (JST) to speak about the future potentials of tele-existence based on latest research result. JST has been taking the lead in tele-existence and physical media research in partnership with Satoshi Tachi, Professor Emeritus at the University of Tokyo and the foremost expert in this field.
