JANE member seminar on human capital management strategies

On December 7th, JANE invited Ms. Junko Matsumi of Mercer Japan to talk about talent management strategies in its members’ seminar.

Ms. Junko Matsumi (Mercer Japan)

Based on Mercer’s report presented at the World Economic Forum Davos meeting, Matsumi spoke about the results and analysis of a global survey on corporations. What are the major factors that companies see as potentially transforming business models in the near future, and what types of jobs are seen to disappear or increase with the progress of automation? Are there any gaps in risk awareness between companies in Japan and abroad about changing skill requirements? Will there be a shortage of human capital, and what are the global challenges in women’s empowerment and diversity promotion? Those are some of the topics that Matsumi addressed during the seminar using detailed data.

In terms of human capital management, Matsui presented strategies adopted by global and Japanese companies, outlining key points for organizational reform and new definitions of leadership skills. The seminar also covered such topics such as the need to revamp HR departments and the importance of visualizing career paths for the millennials.

A big thank you to Ms. Matsui and the engaging participants in the seminar!
